![]() back CAMRA in Cumbria is running the Taste Cumbria Beer Festival in Jennings Brewery Maltings and yard in Cockermouth on Sat 29th / Sun 30th September when there will be 75 beers from most of our Cumbrian breweries, including the four very newest ones; many of the best beers, many seasonal specials and a lot of new ones never seen before! Also 10 Cumbrian-pressed ciders and perries Travel to and from Cockermouth by public transport is very good from Carlisle, Glasgow, Newcastle, Preston, Manchester and no doubt many other places! Here are timetable examples for the first four! Just to show how easy you can do it in a day out! There will be free entry for CAMRA members with card. Beers will be £1.50 per half pint, except strong ones and ciders and perries, which will be in third pints. Pete Brown - national beer author, and his pal Jeff Pickthall, Cumbria's very own beer journalist, are giving a talk in the nearby Kirkgate Centre on both days and hopefully they will come and sample our wares, too and you will get a chance to chat to them. Other celebrities doing demonstrations elsewhere in the town will be encouraged to come and taste the beers, too! You might find yourself rubbing shoulders with a big name chef or gossiping with writers/journalists, or even discussing what beers taste good in bread mixes or go well with sushi!! Bring your family too!! There is plenty for everyone! The whole town centre is taken over by this BIG event! As well as the beer festival, there is a huge food and drink festival taking over the whole town centre, with samplings, loads of cookery demonstrations (with samples at the ends!) talks of beer, whisky, bread-making, worst restaurant experiences, displays and of course, many opportunities to taste and buy top quality local produce from producers! Kids entertainment includes Home-baked Afternoon Tea; The 'Can U Dig it' Show; the Vegetable Orchestra (make your own cucumber trumpet) More info on the festival overall at www.tastecumbria.com.
